Spectacu.la is the end result of a lot of hard work from James Whitehead and David Coveney at Interconnect IT in Liverpool, England.

Our ethos is simple. To produce the best and easiest to use WordPress themes available while developing a vibrant, positive and useful community.

Until recently, Interconnect IT only built custom websites and WordPress themes for clients. We’ve created sophisticated custom WordPress themes for sites such as Accurate Cutting, Telecoms.com and Politics & The City. They were designed from the ground up to be simple to use and easy to modify.

The idea for a themes club came when a client asked us to modify a popular theme which he had paid in the region of $400 for. While it was an attractive design, it was hard to use and many options involved digging into the code - and this was why the client had to find professional developers to make it do what they wanted it to do. We don’t believe a theme should required a pro in order to configure it and make it work as it should. Our ethos of power with simplicity delivered a re-engineered version of the theme that was far easier and faster for the client to use.
