It’s simple to use, but there are a few things to learn first.

You have a navigation bar that can be switched on or off, and with various selectable options. Then there’s a footer into which page links can be placed, and a set of tabs along the top right of the page. All in all, a lot of power. The screencast below will help you to see these navigation options in use.

You do this by writing a new page, setting the Page Template to be a Section layout, setting the appropriate navigation options and saving. You then need to set options in Settings | Reading, which will allow you to define this page as your site’s front page. To see how it’s done, follow the instructions in the screencast below.
